Goals and Objectives
The following goals and objectives are key approaches the college will take over the next 5 years to respond to the changing needs of the community.
GOAL #1
To provide sound educational experiences in a supportive environment, which prepare students for the expectations of the workforce, the responsibilities of citizenship in the community, and the rigor of further academic pursuits.
Related Objectives:

Offer vocational programs which prepare graduates for immediate employment and workplace success.

Offer academic transfer programs, which prepare students for success in continuing studies, with an emphasis on pre-professional programs.

Strengthen retention through a systematic process of early identification of, and intervention with, at-risk students.

Provide developmental opportunities for under-prepared students.
-
Provide tutoring, advising, and career counseling to facilitate academic success.

Increase the use of educational technology where appropriate to enhance learning.

Expand alternative teaching/learning approaches such as distance learning, coring, multimedia, experiential learning, computer-assisted instruction, and short-term intensive training.

Provide institutional support for, and encourage student participation in, student-life activities (clubs, student senate etc.).

Review educational programs as part of an ongoing evaluation process.
GOAL #2
To offer our students and communities professional service-oriented faculty, staff, and administrators committed to the community college philosophy and to the continuous growth of their professional knowledge and skills.
Related Objectives:

Prioritize funding for staff development activities that support the goals of the college.

Facilitate cross training within departments and throughout the college.
-
Schedule in-service training to enhance professionalism and success in positions.

Utilize technology where appropriate to assist in the performance of duties.
GOAL #3
To offer our students and communities an educational system that is articulated with other higher education institutions and with K-12 institutions.
Related Objectives:

Expand the high school tech-prep agreements to additional schools.

Increase articulation activities with regional colleges and universities to facilitate student transfer opportunities.

Strengthen recruitment activities, particularly related to high school honor students and home-schooled students.
GOAL #4
To strengthen our community ties by offering cultural enrichment and human development programming, by supporting economic development initiatives, and by delivering highly responsive lifelong learning opportunities throughout our service area.
Related Objectives:

Develop more flexible scheduling (block courses, evenings, weekends) as needed to respond to community needs.

Provide social, cultural, athletic, and recreational activities.

Sponsor community education opportunities.

Collaborate with community businesses to support economic development.
-
Invite community members to the college as resource experts (advisory committees, guest speakers, foundation, program review etc.).

Encourage EWC involvement in the community (speakers' bureau, volunteer activities, etc.).

Market our programs and services to our area constituencies, especially to non-traditional students.

Promote business partnerships with educational endeavors.
GOAL #5
To increase and maximize the resources of the college so that its long-term viability is assured and its vision, mission, and goals can be realized.
Related Objectives:

Provide resources (equipment, facilities, supplies) needed for student success.
-
Employ strategic budgeting techniques to facilitate the allocation of existing resources for optimum use.

Effectively develop federal, state, private, and corporate funding sources.
-
Contribute cooperatively toward the achievement of higher-education priorities established by the State of Wyoming through the Wyoming Community College Commission.

Adequately maintain institutional assets-facilities, equipment, and
staffing-by funding a replacements reserve and annual cost of living salary adjustment.
