Coach Jones comes to EWC after three years of being the head coach at Western Wyoming College. In his three year stint at Western Wyoming Coach Jones won a Wyoming Conference championship and a Central Sub-Region championship and was named the coach of the year in each in 2004-2005. He had 5 all conference players and over 20 academic all-conference players.

Jones has had two previous stops in Torrington...he was a EWC Lancer in 1996-1998 where he played for Bob Davis. He also started his college coaching in 2003-2004 with EWC as an assistant coach and helped the lancers claim their fourth Region IX title and an 8th place finish at the national tournament.

Coach Jones is originally from Saratoga Wyoming his parents are Mark and Nancy Jones. He has two brothers, Travis and Adam and one sister Erin. He is married to Jennifer Jones and they have a four year old daughter Kennedy.

"I am very excited to be a lancer for the third time. I love this community and this college and I hope to represent them both with integrity and class."

Tom Andersen is the head coach. Andersen has plenty of experience coaching at various levels.

His track record consists of coaching high school for seven years, serving as an assistant college coach for a year, head coaching at Westmare College, Iowa, for seven years, and his most recent stint had him at Chadron State for 13 years.

He chose to be a Lancer because of the excitement and opportunity of starting a new program. Coach Andersen said the team is "shaping up to be a quick and athletic team that will be exciting to watch."

Rodeo

Jake has coached rodeo at Eastern Wyoming College since 1996. Talent, hard work and dedication has led Jake to a fun-filled career in the rodeo world. Jake is a former Nebraska State Championship Bareback Rider and three-time qualifier to the NHSRA Finals in calf roping, bareback riding and team roping. Jake attended Eastern Wyoming College on a rodeo scholarship so he is no stranger to the rodeo program here at EWC. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from the Chadron State College, Chadron, NE. Jake has qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo and the Mountain States Circuit Finals. He knows both ends of the arena and dedicates his time to the sport of rodeo, both in his professional career and to those of his student athletes.

Coach Petsch has completed his twenty-ninth year at the helm of Eastern Wyoming College volleyball. Petsch has compiled an impressive 932-405 record, an average of over 32 wins per season. Coach Petsch ranks as the 2nd winningest active coach in the National Junior College Athletic Association, and the sixteenth winningest active coach in all levels of women’s intercollegiate volleyball. He has coached in seven National Tournaments, fifteen Regional Championship matches, and won twelve Wyoming Community College Athletic Conference Titles. Petsch was voted American Volleyball Coaches Association West Regional Coach of the Year in 1996, NJCAA Region IX Coach of the Year in 1977, 1978, 1986, 1991,1994 and 1998, and Wyoming Community College Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 1979, 1980, 1982, 1985, 1986, 1991, & 1993. Petsch has coached 17 All-Americans, 24 Academic All-Americans, 50 All-Regional, and 68 All-Conference athletes. Verl is a graduate of the University of Wyoming, and holds a Master’s Degree from Chadron State College. Verl and his wife, Bonnie, have two sons, Wayne and Lance.

Coach Petsch was honored in 1998 by the NJCAA Volleyball Coaches Association with his induction into the NJCAA Coaches Hall of Fame. He is only the sixth coach selected.

A 1991 Torrington High School graduate. Lance attended Eastern Wyoming College graduating in 1993, majoring in education. He served as a student athletic trainer and assisted with volleyball practice. Transferring to the University of Wyoming he served as a student athletic trainer at the University 1993 to 1998. He played on the University of Wyoming Men's Club volleyball team, and assisted with Cowgirl volleyball practice while serving as the Cowgirl volleyball team trainer. Following graduation from the University of Wyoming in 1999, with a Bachelor of Science degree, Lance has returned to EWC. He is the Activities & Intramural Director, Assistant Volleyball coach, and physical education instructor.
