Freshmen Applicants (who have not attended college)

  • Secure the application materials from the Office of Admissions or on the EWC Web site.
  • Complete all the application materials and return to the Office of Admissions.  Applicants are encouraged to apply at least one month prior to the planned date of registration.
  • Request a 6-7 semester transcript of secondary school record be sent directly to the Office of Admissions or send a final transcript following high school graduation.
  • All applicants to Eastern Wyoming College are encouraged but not required to submit results of the American College Test.  Results are used only for academic advisement, career planning, and scholarship eligibility and are not used as admissions criteria.
  • Applicants who are accepted will be notified as soon as the credentials can be processed after receipt.

Transfer Applicants (who have not previously attended Eastern Wyoming College)

  • Transfer students will follow the procedures outlined above and include a transcript from each college previously attended. EWC is able to accept courses and credits from other colleges that have been approved by one of the six United States Accrediting Associations. Credit hours with grades of C or better from an accredited institution will be transferred.
  • The high school transcript is not required when the college transcript gives complete information about the applicant's high school record.
  • Transfer students who are on "probation" or whose status is "dismissal" at the institution of their last attendance, will be placed on academic probation for the semester in which they are admitted. Admission for the succeeding term requires a grade point average of 2.00 or above on all work taken during the probationary period.
  • Students wishing credit for courses taken at a an institution not accredited by one of the six United States Regional Accrediting Associations must take and successfully pass a departmental examination before credit can be awarded.
  • Transfer students may transfer a total of three hours of religion from an accredited institution to apply towards the humanities requirement for graduation. Additional hours in religion from an accredited institution will be evaluated for use as elective credit.

Readmission of Former Students

  • Former students of the college who are in good standing and who have not attended another collegiate institution are eligible to return without special application. It is recommended that such students notify the college at least two weeks before the opening of the term in which they expect to return in order that their personal files may be activated for registration purposes.
  • Former students of the college who have attended another collegiate institution since their last attendance are considered transfer students for admission purposes. The Office of Admissions may require completion of a new application for admission, if deemed necessary.

High School Students

  • Students must be of junior or senior standing and at least 16 years old.
  • Students must have at least a “B” (86% or 3.0 GPA) average and the high school principal’s permission to enroll in college courses. Exceptions to the above qualifications may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Requests for exceptions must be submitted to the EWC Dean of Instruction.
  • To enroll, on campus, high school students must contact the Dean of Students. Students desiring to enroll at an outreach site must contact the outreach coordinator.
  • High school students must also meet the same assessment/ placement test criteria for math, English, and reading as utilized for college students.
  • High school students who desire to continue their studies at Eastern Wyoming College following graduation should follow the admission procedures outlined under the freshman applicant section in the current EWC Catalog.
  • High school students who are concurrently enrolled are not eligible for Title IV Financial Aid.

Goshen County School District #1 High School Students

  • GCSD#1 high school students who meet the qualifications may enroll in classes on the Torrington campus of EWC with their tuition being funded by institutional grants and scholarships. All applicable activity/use and course fees, and book expenses, are the responsibility of the student.
  • Initial enrollment, and eligibility for the tuition waiver, will be determined by a “B” (86%) average from the appropriate GCSD#1 high school. To continue receiving the high school tuition waiver, the student must successfully complete the courses in which he/she enrolled each semester at Eastern Wyoming College with a 2.50 grade point average.

Special Admissions

  • Qualified students who have been selected by a school official and who will benefit by taking selected courses may enroll at EWC.
  • The student must have written permission from a school official.
  • Students must meet the same assessment/placement test criteria for math, English, and writing as utilized for college students.
  • Students must have evidence of exceptional achievements in the discipline requested, as demonstrated by nationally accepted tests or performance standards.
  • The student must have written permission from the Dean of Instruction.

International Students

This school is authorized under Federal law to enroll nonimmigrant students.

  • Applicants must meet English proficiency and financial support requirements. International students whose native language is other than English must furnish scores on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A paper-based TOEFL score of 500 or a computer-based TOEFL score of 173 is required for acceptance. Also required is completion of all sections of the Confidential Financial Statement form (available from the Office of Admissions), including Statement of Guarantor and Bank Verification.

Military Credit

  • Eastern Wyoming College evaluates military services schools and occupational credit according to the American Council on Education's Guide to the Evaluation of Educational Experiences in the Armed Services. Elective credit is granted when approved.
