Community education brings community members together in a manner that helps people to help themselves improve the quality of their lives.
The college works with groups, agencies, and businesses to enhance economic development efforts in the area. The Community Training Center has two classrooms, a computer classroom and a general classroom, which may be used to offer customized training. Classes which cater to the business community will be offered in short-term and flexible formats. Credit and non-credit courses are available. Serving the needs of our workforce is vitally important to us. Customized workforce training classes are available through out the service area.

The college has a branch campus in Douglas which offers day and evening courses emphasizing general education, business, and computer areas. For more information check out the Outreach web page.

Daniels Fund College Prep Program
This absolutely free program is geared towards assisting students with demonstrated financial need who have a desire to go to college. Through a joint partnership with all seven Wyoming community colleges, The Daniels Fund provides a tailor-made program of college prep assistance and information over an 18-month period. Founder of the program was Bill Daniels, recently deceased, who had the desire to help those who might be overlooked by traditional college prep programs. Academic measures, such as grade point average or test scores are not a factor in accepting applicants. Home-schooled students are also invited to apply. The program looks for students with leadership potential, maturity, strength of character, a well-rounded personality and the potential to give back to the community. The following high schools are served by the Daniels College Prep Program in the southeast area: Chugwater, Glendo, Guernsey, Lingle, Lusk, Southeast, Torrington, and Wheatland.
Selected students will have the opportunity to attend college prep seminars at Eastern Wyoming College in the spring of their junior year in high school. During the summer months, students will benefit from a one-week residential workshop on a college campus at no cost. This experience offers students the opportunity to experience life as a college student; residing on campus, participating in writing classes and engaging in leadership development and service learning projects. Programming resumes in the fall of their senior year with heavy focus on completing applications for scholarships and college admittance. A series of financial assistance workshops throughout the program ensure that students apply for scholarship and federal financial assistance opportunities. Families are asked to support their students and are welcome to participate in the seminars as often as they wish. The deadline for application is generally October 31. Students may request an application from their local guidance counselor’s office, directly from the Daniels Fund office, toll free at 866.EASTWYO, or from the EWC/Daniels College Prep Program Site Coordinator, Kathy Moriarty.
