PEAQ Self-Study 2010
Eastern Wyoming College is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission--North Central Association. Eastern Wyoming College's accreditation self-study for 2010 started in 2008 with an application to the Foundations of Excellence® In the First College Year. A team of ten including two students attended the launch meeting held in Asheville, North Carolina and then led the institution during 2008-2009 through an intensive self-study emphasizing students' experiences in the first college year at Eastern Wyoming College. The nine dimension committees were co-chaired by faculty and staff and included representation from most of the personnel and many of the students at the college. A student survey and a staff survey were conducted that were the genesis of rich information which formed the foundation of the committees' work. The nine dimensions included: Philosophy, Organization, Learning, Campus Culture, Transitions, All Students, Diversity, Roles & Purposes, and Improvement. The final report was finished and presented to the college community during the Fall, 2009 in-service. At the same in-service, the plans for the second year of the reaccreditation self-study were presented. The HLC Liaison, Dr. Andrew Lootens-White, was able to participate in the in-service activities. The same nine dimension committees took on additional duties as the accreditation criteria were added to their duties and distributed in a manner that closely linked the dimension and criteria components. Three additional campus committees were added to the self-study process, namely Publicity, Resource Room, and Compliance. The chairs of all of the subcommittees, along with college administrators form the overall Steering Committee. The committees have continued their quest for information and have analyzed their findings for strengths, opportunities, and challenges. The projected timeline shows that the subcommittees will submit their work for review of the overall steering committee in April and May. The self-study coordinator will do the final compilation and have the report ready for submission by August 2010. The College is looking forward to the HLC Team visit which is scheduled for October 25-27, 2010.
