Quiet Hours: Quiet hours are 10:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m. daily.

Closure Dates: The residence halls are closed over Christmas break and Spring Break. Only students involved in a campus sponsored activity may be given the opportunity to remain in the residence halls during these times. Prior arrangements must be made with the Director of Residence Life. For further information, see the EWC Catalog.

Room Privacy: Every student’s personal privacy is respected. However, the housing department reserves the right to authorize entry into a room when there is reasonable cause to believe that:

  1. An immediate threat to the health or safety of the occupants exists.
  2. A need to protect property (college or private) exists.
  3. It is necessary for housing personnel to close and secure a hall or to repair, replace, or inspect college property.
  4. It is necessary to aid in our basic responsibility regarding discipline and maintenance of an educational atmosphere.

Room Security: You are issued a key to the exterior front door of the building where you live so that you may come and go as you wish. Side and back exterior doors are locked and alarms are activated. The front doors are always locked. You are issued a key to your room also. We advise that you lock your room anytime you are not in your room to protect your personal property.

Roommates: Roommates are assigned by the housing staff unless the students have requested a specific roommate. Roommates are expected to conduct themselves in a mature manner, learn how to get along in the event of a conflict, be courteous to the needs of one another and respect one another’s differences, qualities and needs. The housing staff is willing to work with roommates who have irreconcilable differences and may reassign roommates if needed.
