A Great Decision to Share in Our Region’s Future, the name given to the first major fundraising campaign at Eastern Wyoming College, was very suitable as over 200 individuals and organizations contributed gifts and pledges of over $1,000,000. The campaign ended in May 2005, with a phonathon directed at alumni and parents of current EWC students.
The Major Gifts Campaign made it possible to remodel and expand the Welding and Machine Tooling program. Construction of the new welding laboratory is near completion and will be ready for students by 2006 Spring semester. The expansion will allow EWC to provide customized training for industries and expand certification testing of welders.
Students living on campus returned to the residence hall in the Fall to find new beds, chairs and draperies as well as internet access in all of the rooms, thanks to the Major Gifts Campaign. The next phase of the dormitory renovation is to remodel the current bathrooms, scheduled for completion in 2006, and new bathrooms added by 2009.
Major Gifts Campaign donations are responsible for the construction of a new kennel to house dogs and cats for the Veterinary Technology program which will begin in 2006 and be completed in 2008. Vet Tech will also see a new small animal lab and area for recovery of surgical patients and an area for quarantine of animals.
