In the past few weeks we have received inquiries into the status of the Tech Prep program. Perkins legislation was recently reauthorized, but underwent changes, which unfortunately included the absorption of the Tech Prep money into the general Perkins allocation. At Eastern Wyoming College, our total allocation was inadequate to cover funding of equipment for our former Tech Prep schools as we have done in the past. We regret that we cannot continue to financially support the schools in our service area, but we do want to continue to strive to develop pathways between secondary curriculum and post-secondary career and technical education programs.
We are constantly learning more about the new Perkins legislation during this important transition year. It is our hope that we can continue a strong working relationship so we can assist our career and technical education students as they continue their education at the post-secondary level.
