(Torrington, WY November 18, 2002) Anne Gardetto of Eastern Wyoming College was selected to serve on the University of Wyoming Steering Committee for Wyomings first symposium on diversity in higher education to be hosted November 21-22, 2002.
The conference will bring stakeholders from community colleges in Wyoming, western Nebraska and northern Colorado, and the University of Wyoming to focus on areas of recruitment, retention, and transfer of minority and adult students, students with disabilities, and international students. ?To achieve diverse student bodies, institutions must initiate sensitive and comprehensive strategies to reduce barriers and increase avenues of access in order to attract diverse students to higher education and to assure that these students graduate,? states Gardetto.
