EWC Hires Special Needs Tutor

February 14, 2003

(Torrington, WY) Eastern Wyoming College has hired Marcia Berryman, part-time, as Special Needs Tutor. Ms. Berryman will provide tutoring services for EWC students with a documented disability, assist with planning and organizational skills and serve as liaison between instructors and students. She will be available from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Mondays and 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Fridays in the EWC Learning Skills Lab. The position is made possible through Colorado State Universitys School of Education (SOE) Exceeding Expectations grant sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education.

As a non-traditional student, she went back to school after her three sons were grown, to finish her degree. She completed a degree in Secondary English Education in 1987 and a Masters in 1990. Berryman taught English for four years at Torrington High School and was simultaneously an adjunct at WNCC. I just enjoy being around students. Its a great feeling to work with students especially when a student comprehends a concept, when a light comes on and they get it, Berryman commented. Berryman lives in Torrington with husband Jim.
