June 3, 2003

(Torrington, WY) Four members of Eastern Wyoming College?s rodeo team will be competing at the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) this coming week. The EWC rodeo team did well at the College Regional Championship Series (CRCS) in Bozeman, MT, this past week.

Jerod Farella, of Newcastle, won the CRCS team roping average with his partner Burt Reno, of the University of Wyoming (UW). "Jerod already had a bye to the CNFR," Jake Clark, EWC Rodeo Coach, explained. "He roped well at regionals and showed his true competitive style."

Zane Marty, of Newcastle, teamed with Justin Hammerich, of UW, to qualify for the CNFR in the team roping. "Zane is a very consistent roper and he should do well at the CNFR," Clark said.

Kean Edwards, of Gillette, won the second round in the calf roping. Edwards also had a bye to the CNFR from his reserve regional championship win. "As a freshman, Kean has shown a great level of maturity," Clark said. "This guy can rope with the best of them."

Keith Wernsman, of Fleming, CO, qualified for the CNFR in the bull riding. "The bull riding was an endurance contest," Clark said. "Keith rode two out of three at regionals and definitely earned a trip to the CNFR."

Freshman barrel racer Ronnie MacDonell, of Carbondale, CO, just missed qualifying for the CNFR by .02 seconds. The CNFR will be held in Casper June 8-14.
