EWC Athletes Receive Honors

(Torrington, WY) Eastern Wyoming College Athletic Director, Verl Petsch, announced that three EWC athletes received the honor of Academic All American. Petsch explained that two players achieved Distinguished Academic All American, which requires a GPA of at least 3.8. Paul McVey, of Casper, WY, majoring in Education, earned Level I honors in basketball and Amanda Green, of Chappell, NE, also an Education major, earned Level I honors in volleyball. Sandi Brown, of Burwell, NE, achieved Academic All American by Sport in volleyball, which requires a GPA of at least 3.6. Besides a minimum GPA, both levels require completion of 45 credit hours plus lettering in a sport to be eligible.

McVey will continue his basketball career and education at the University of Sioux Falls, while Green will continue her volleyball career and education at Chadron State College. Brown will be attending Hastings College to complete her Dental Hygiene degree. All three athletes began their careers at EWC and were 2-year letter earners. Coach Petsch commented that EWC's Academic All American recognition comes to a total of thirty individuals. "This is just an example of continuing academic and athletic excellence at Eastern Wyoming College."
