The Daniels College Prep and Scholarship Program (DCPSP), operated by the Daniels Fund in partnership with all seven Wyoming community colleges, is accepting applications for its college prep program for high school Juniors who would like to attend college but need exposure to information and financial resources to achieve that goal. Application must be submitted to the Daniels Fund office in Wyoming by October 31, 2003.
Students selected for the Daniels College Prep and Scholarship Program
will receive a tailor-made program of college prep assistance and information
over an 18-month period at no cost due to the generosity of Bill Daniels, founder of the Daniels Fund. Because it was Daniels' desire to help
those
who might be overlooked by traditional college prep programs, the DCPSP considers students with
financial need. Students selected for the program will learn how to pursue a variety of financial aid and
scholarship opportunities, start the college application process, learn how to write
college admissions essays, prepare for the ACT or SAT exam, and other related college prep activities. Students will also be
assisted in the decision-making process with regard to their choice of a major and
college they wish to attend. Students who complete the program in good standing
will be eligible to apply for scholarship assistance from the Daniels Fund. A
limited number of applicants will receive comprehensive "unmet need" scholarships to any college or university in the United States.
The information seminars will be presented by Kathy Moriarty. Moriarty is the former Director of Financial Aid at EWC and is now the Coordinator for the Daniels Fund at Eastern Wyoming College. She serves high schools in the communities of Torrington, Lingle, Yoder, Guernsey, Lusk, Wheatland, Chugwater, and Glendo.
