EWC Major Gifts Campaign Involves More Volunteers

October 10, 2003

(Torrington, WY) Seventeen community members have volunteered to serve as ambassadors for the College's major gift campaign. The volunteers will be telling the community about plans to build a new dorm, remodel the co-ed dorm, and expand the welding and machine tooling and veterinary technology programs--all part of EWC's first-ever major fund-raising campaign.

Volunteers include Dick Vandel, Donna Beth Downer, Ann Beaulieu, Jim Davis, Gary Olson, Todd Peterson, Chuck Kenyon, Kerin Clark, Dick Fullmer, Alyce Jolovich, Patrick Korell, Debbie Ochsner, Carl Rupp, Tanya Cook, Sharon Jones and the two chairs, Lorna Stickel, EWC Chemistry Instructor and Tami Afdahl, Director of Marketing and Public Relations.

In response to being asked to chair the Speaker's Bureau, Lorna Stickel said, "Eastern Wyoming College has given much to me both professionally and personally during my 15 years of employment, and I'm pleased to be given the opportunity to serve the college as chairperson of the Speaker's Bureau. With the help of the talented volunteers, EWC will make strides toward being for our students what our motto states--'A Great Decision!' "

The two committees are designed to provide communications between the College and various civic and service organizations through presentations and campus tours to see first-hand the College's plans. "I am very excited to be part of the Tours Committee. The best way for us to tell our story is to show it through a campus tour," said Tours Committee chair, Tami Afdahl. So far, approximately 90 groups have been contacted, and those interested in learning more about the campaign will either have a presentation at their meetings or will come on campus for lunch and a tour of the projects.
