Judge Kautz to Speak at EWC Commencement

(Torrington, WY)  Eastern Wyoming College is pleased to announce that The Honorable Keith G. Kautz, Judge of the Eight Judicial District will be the speaker at the 55th annual commencement in the Fine Arts Auditorium on May 7th, at 7:30 p.m. Kautz is a Torrington native. He has been married for 29 years to Karen Callahan and has three children, Annie, Jenna, and Gordon.

Kautz received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Wyoming College of Law. He has been a District Judge in the Eighth Judicial District in Wyoming since January 1993. He was appointed by Governor Mike Sullivan. He has directed "People's Law School" in Torrington and Wheatland and has been a past Adjunct instructor at EWC in Political Science and Constitutional Law and Ethics.

Commencement activities will begin with a steak fry for the graduates and their families in the Student Center at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 7th. The commencement ceremony will begin at 7:30 p.m. with a Processional from Ms. Janet Howard, Pianist. Ms. Melissa Meeboer will serve as the Director of Ceremonies. The National Anthem will be sung by EWC student, Ms. Rebecca M. Smith. Dr. Jack Bottenfield will then provide a welcome and introduce the guests on the stage. These guests will include The Honorable Keith G. Kautz, the Board of Trustees, Foundation members and EWC administrators. Ms. Janis Beesley, member of the EWC Student Senate, will provide a welcome on behalf of the students. Kautz will then address the graduates. Dr. Ann Beaulieu, Vice President and Dean of Instruction, will Present the Candidates for graduation. Following will be the Presentation of Diplomas by Mr. Dale Wickham, President of the College Board of Trustees. Eastern Wyoming College Foundation President, Kathryn Kelly, will then present the 2004. Distinguished Alumni award to Mr. Jerry Hunt. The closing remarks will be spoken by Ms. Melissa Meeboer.
