EWC Introduces New Employees

(Torrington, WY) Eastern Wyoming College is pleased to introduce eleven new employees. 
Carolyn Phillips is the new Art Instructor. Phillips holds a M.F.A. in Painting from Indiana State University and a B.F.A. in Painting and Drawing from East Carolina University. She has taught undergraduate level Visual Art in Civilization, Art Appreciation, and Beginning Drawing at Indiana State University. She has been previously employed as an artist, research assistant, and art gallery manager.

Jeff Bruening joins EWC as the new History/Political Science Instructor. Bruening holds a M.A. in history from the University of Chicago, M.A. in European History, B.A. with honors from Northern Illinois University, and an A.A. with highest honors from Rock Valley Community College. His teaching experience has been as an adjunct History and Political Science instructor for Rock Valley Community College and McHenry County College.

The new Computer Science Instructor is Eugene Porter. Porter holds a M.A. from Southwest Missouri State University, B.A. in Computer Science and Statistics, B.S. in Management Information Systems from the University of Wyoming, and an A.S. in Business Administration from Casper College. He has been an adjunct Accounting and Computer Science instructor at Casper College. Porter's previous employment has been as a business and computers systems consultant.

Rick Patterson is the new Social Science Instructor. Patterson holds a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Wyoming, M.A. and a B.A. from Chadron State College, and an A.A. from EWC. Before coming to EWC, he was the Executive Director of the Washakie Mental Health Services at Worland, WY. He has been an adjunct instructor and a part-time instructor at Chadron State College, Northwest College, and EWC. His areas of expertise are in psychology, sociology, and criminal justice.

Karen Johnson joins EWC as the new ABE/GED/ESL Coordinator. Johnson holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of South Dakota/Springfield. She taught for seven years, then spent a brief time as a police dispatcher and then as a librarian. She re-entered the teaching profession as the ABE/GED/ESL instructor at the Douglas Branch of Eastern Wyoming College before taking the coordinator position here.

Previous EWC Veterinary Technology graduate Viqi Jansing, is the new Veterinary Technology Instructor. Jansing has worked as a research assistant and veterinarian technician since graduating from C.S.U. with a B.A. in Animal Science.

EWC has two new Housing Supervisors, Darci Davis and Keri Koski. Davis holds a BA from Chadron State. She was a resident assistant in housing before going to China as an English instructor in a Chinese college for 10 months. She will be supervising the apartment building. Koski is a EWC graduate with an A.S. in Business. She has been a EWC resident assistant and work-study in several different offices on campus. She will be supervising the dormitory.

Three new custodians have joined the custodial team. Kevin Teske is the new Lead Custodian. Teske is a Torrington High School graduate and was a route driver for Tri County Coors. He has extensive custodial experience as well as his own carpet cleaning business. Mark Smith and Gina Bugher are both our new custodians. Smith is a Torrington High School graduate and was previously a salesman for Covello Motor Co. Bugher attended Guernsey/Sunrise High School. Her previous employment has been with Pizza Hut, Rob's Riverview, and Western Sugar.
