EWC Criminal Justice Students Participate in Regional Competition

(Torrington, WY) Twelve students and three professionals from Eastern Wyoming College traveled to Omaha, NE on October 21st through the 24th to compete in the Region III American Criminal Justice Association Conference and Competition. It was the largest regional conference held in all of the six regions which make up the ACJA in several years. Normally one-hundred to two-hundred people attend these conferences. This year there were 176 competitors.

Winners from EWC were John Vance who tied for first in Corrections. Nicole Meyer placed second in Physical Agility. In the Shooting category, the team of Candace Huckfeldt, Eric Herdt and Tom Webster placed third with Jed Schdenfedt placing second in individual. The team of Chuck Kenyon, Jeremiah Burd and John Wells placed first in the Professional Shooting categories while the team of Glenn Schleve and Meyer placed third. Kenyon placed second and Wells placed third for individual. The Crime Scene Investigation was won by the team of Schleve, Wells, and Burd. Schleve also placed first in Corrections and third in LAE Knowledge.

Glenn Schleve, EWC's Criminal Justice instructor commented, "Although we did not win, we did have a good showing and should be ready for Nationals in the spring."
