EWC Veterinary Technology Students Attend Career Fair

(Torrington, WY) Dr. Ed Bittner and four Eastern Wyoming College Veterinary Technology students attended the 8th annual Healthcare Career Fair that is sponsored by the Wyoming Health Occupations Consortium. The career fair was held on February 9th at the Parkway Plaza in Casper. Students from across the state of Wyoming are invited to this event to become familiar with what different careers entail as well as educational opportunities in the state that would prepare them for careers in nursing, medical technology, dentistry, medicine and veterinary medicine.

Dr. Bittner, who is a Veterinary Technology Instructor, advisor, and also a Pre-Veterinary Medicine advisor at EWC, along with Dylan Branson, Tonya Rolf, Tristin Coltrane and Leigh Hatzenbuhler delivered two presentations to about 120 high school students. Dr. Bittner presented information on career opportunities in veterinary medicine including veterinary technology and shared experiences from his 25 years of private practice, military practice and education. The students discussed their educational experiences as veterinary technology students and then demonstrated proper handling and restraint of animals that accompanied them to the event including a snake, a guinea pig and her babies, a chinchilla, and a ferret. Students expressed significant interest in the veterinary professions that were discussed.
