May 19, 2005

(Torrington, WY) Eastern Wyoming College was recently bequeathed a gift from the late Jinx Tucker, which has been designated for student scholarships.

In 1995, Jinx established the Mae Tucker Memorial Scholarship in honor of his mother. His recent bequest will be placed in that same endowment, and the scholarship will be named the Tucker Memorial Scholarship.

This gift is eligible for the Wyoming Community College Endowment program and will be matched by the state. The result is a $45,000 scholarship endowment, from which only the interest income will be used to fund two $800 scholarships.

"Jinx, an EWC alumnus, was a strong supporter of Eastern Wyoming College for a very long time, and I think he would be pleased to know that his generous gift will go directly to EWC students," added Lynnea Bartlett, EWC Director of Development.
