Eastern Wyoming College Foundation receives scholarship donation opportunity

TORRINGTON, WY - The Eastern Wyoming College (EWC) Foundation has been presented a wonderful opportunity to double a scholarship donation given by a local family.
Janet and Jerome Hinkley recently established the Lisa M. Hinkley Experience Scholarship in honor of their daughter. This scholarship is a cash award for a veterinary technology student participating in the final internship of the program.
"Our daughter Lisa works in career services at Michigan State and knows that experience is a critical factor in post graduation employment. While there are many scholarships to assist with tuition costs there are few to compensate for lost wages incurred during unpaid internships," commented Mrs. Hinkley about the establishment of scholarship.
This opportunity became available as a result of the EWC Foundation's recent purchase of land from the Hinkleys which surrounds the college's Large Animal Facility. The Hinkleys generously donated a portion of the land and upon the sale of that property, the proceeds will be used to fund the endowment.
EWC Development Director Lynnea Bartlett explains what this opportunity will mean for future students. "This generous gift from the Hinkley family will be eligible for the Wyoming College Endowment Program and will be matched by the state. What that means to EWC is it will double the amount of scholarship dollars available for EWC students."
