Beta Upsilon Delta TORRINGTON, WY - The Eastern Wyoming College Criminal Justice Club, Beta Upsilon Delta (B.U.D.) traveled to St. Charles, IL March 20-26 to attend and compete in the American Criminal Justice Associations National Competition and Conference.

According to Criminal Justice Instructor, Glenn Schleve, approximately 25 students from EWC attended the event and placed 2nd overall in the competition. Those who placed were Larry Gallant, Chuck Kenyon, Tammy Kenyon, Sean McKeeham, Jackie Mehrens, Zach Olivarez, Matt Proffitt, K.C. Rayburn, Thor Terland, John Vance, and Tim VanLitsenborgh

Student Mehrens received the highest honors with the Top Academic Award. She placed 1st in Corrections, 2nd in Criminal Law, and 3rd in Juvenile Justice.

"The students did an excellent job in the academic part of the testing," Schleve said. "We were down in our shooting and physical agility competitions."

Not only did the students enjoy themselves and learned a lot at Nationals, they also enjoyed the company of others with the same interests. "It was great to work with other people with our profession," student Rayburn said.

EWC's Chuck Kenyon is also very happy with how the team performed. "The team did very good overall," Kenyon commented. "We didn't quite put the lead on paper in the shooting competition so that hurt our overall score. I was impressed with Jackie's dedication and hard work on the academic tests. Her work really paid off with her Top Academic Award."
