Senator Curtis E. Meier to speak at Eastern Wyoming College Commencement

TORRINGTON, WY - Eastern Wyoming College is pleased to announce that Senator Curtis E. Meier will be the speaker at the 56th annual commencement in the Fine Arts Auditorium on May 12th at 7:00 p.m.
Meier is a life long resident of Goshen County and has been affiliated in agricultural business and farming in Goshen County.
Meier is a graduate of LaGrange High School and the University of Wyoming. Currently, he is a member of the following organizations: Torrington Rotary Club, Goshen County Chamber of Commerce, Farm Bureau, Wyoming Stock Growers, NRA Lifetime, Potato Association of America, and the National Potato Council.
Some of the public service experiences that Meier has had include Senate Judiciary Committee, Management Audit Committee, State Building Commission, National Health Policy Institute and the State Employee Compensation Commission just to name a few.
His current committees include: Legislative Liaison for State Retirement, Chairpersons - Corporations, Elections, and Political Subdivisions, Joint Ag, Public Lands and Water Resources, 2006 - NCSL Energy and Electric Utilities Commission, and the Task Force on Taxation.
Commencement activities will begin with a steak fry for the graduates and their families in the EWC Student Center at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 12th. The commencement ceremony in the Fine Arts Auditorium will begin at 7:00 p.m. Mr. Glenn Schleve will serve as the Director of Ceremonies. Dr. Jack Bottenfield will then provide a welcome and introduce the guests on stage. These guests will include Curtis Meier, the Board of Trustees, Foundation members and EWC administrators. Landon McGuire, President of the EWC Student Senate, will provide a welcome on behalf of students. Meier will then address the graduates. Dr. Ann Beaulieu, Vice President and Dean of Instruction, will present the Candidates for graduation. Following will be the Presentation of Diplomas by Mr. Dale Wickham, President of the College Board of Trustees. EWC Foundation President, Patrick Korell, will present the 2006 Distinguished Alumni Award to Dustin J. Stephenson. The closing remarks will be spoken by Schleve.
