July 31, 2006

TORRINGTON, WY - The Eastern Wyoming College GEAR-Up program is teaming up with the after school program PRACTICE and will be holding a pre-registration event. Pre-registration will be held August 7th and August 8th, 4 - 7 p.m. in EWC Student Center located in the front of the college by the fountain. Refreshments will be provided.

The collaboration of the PRACTICE program and the EWC GEAR-Up program will allow middle school students to be involved with an exciting new program designed to help students achieve the academic, social skills and financial assistance necessary to plan for college. The GEAR-Up program will also provide financial assistance for tutors to serve more students.

The PRACTICE After School Program has also joined forces with the Goshen County School District, and Goshen County Youth Alternatives to better serve the needs of the youth of our community. The PRACTICE program began in 2002 and has grown to meet the evolving needs of the young people involved in the program and those who were unable to participate. Education and responsible involved learning is the principal mission of this program. All students are recognized as a whole person with not only academic and cognitive needs but also as a social, emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual young person.
