August 16, 2006

Eastern Wyoming College would like to announce the addition of a Construction Technology certificate program. This certificate program is an 11- month, open entry/exit program designed to prepare students for employment in residential home building.

This three-semester certificate will begin in mid-September and end the middle of July. Students will learn all phases of the construction process. The courses are hands-on and taught on-site. This certificate is designed for students to enter the world of work or to further their education.

The department of Workforce Services and the Torrington Workforce Center projects that job opportunities will be good. The demand for construction workers is very high state wide.

"Employment in the various fields of construction is anticipated to increase by 25% over the next few years in the state of Wyoming alone, and with the economic development growth anticipated for our community of the next few years, these trained workers will be in great demand," added Sue Davis, Supervisor, Torrington Workforce Center.

Financial assistance may be available for qualified applicants. This program is pending final approval from the Wyoming Community College Commission on August 23, 2006.

EWC is now accepting enrollment for this new certificate program. To register for the construction technology program, please contact Dick Fullmer at 307.532.8323 or email at dfullmer@ewc.wy.edu.
