Wyoming Arts Council announces creative writing fellowship winners:

John D. Nesbitt, English and Spanish instructor at Eastern Wyoming College, John Sutton, Sheridan, and Chavawn Kelley of Laramie are the recipients of the 2008 creative writing fellowship, in creative nonfiction.

They will each receive a $3,000 prize as well as a $500 stipend to read their work at the Casper College Literary Conference to be held on Wednesday, October 17, at 7:30 p.m., in the Aley Fine Arts Center, Durham Hall.

Judge for the competition, Nick Flynn, a memoirist and poet from New York City, will participate in the reading along with the three winners.

John Nesbitt entered two chapters from his non-fiction collection "Boy from the Country". Which is an autobiographical work, about growing up with economic disadvantages and striving to be educated. Nesbitt also won for a Fiction entry in 1998. You can only win these fellowships twice in a lifetime. He has had numerous articles, reviews, poems, short stories and over 20 books published.
