EWC's Coach Petsch Reaches Coaching Milestone

TORRINGTON, WY -
On October 24, 2007 the Eastern Wyoming College Lady Lancers defeated Laramie County Community College 3-2 in a very exciting volleyball match to give Head Coach Verl Petsch his 1000th career coaching victory. Petsch is the only head coach in Lancer history having started the volleyball program at Eastern Wyoming College in 1974. The American Volleyball Coaches Association named Petsch the West Regional Coach of the year in 1996. Petsch was honored by the NJCAA Volleyball Coaches Association with induction into the NJCAA Volleyball Hall Of Fame in 1998. The EWC Board of Trustees honored Petsch by naming the activities center and gymnasium the Verl E. Petsch, Jr. Activities Center in 2002. During his 34 year tenure, Petsch has won 6 NJCAA Regional Championships, 15 Wyoming Conference Champions, Coached 17 NJCAA All-Americans, 25 Academic All-Americans, and 58 All-Regional selections.
