Lancer Golfer Wins EWC Invitational Tournament

Ryan Yung wins first college tournament at home course.

Lancer golfer Ryan Yung was the 2008 EWC Invitational Champion. Yung finished the two day tournament with a 150, shooting a 74 the first day and a 76 the second. Team mate Mitch Haden finished in 4th place with a score of 155. Also competing for the Lancers were Andrew Jackson, 160; Tyler Huston, 160; and Seth Rohrabacher with a 167.

In team results, EWC also prevailed with a team score of 625. Lamar finished second with a 628, Trinidad third with a 629, McCook finished fourth with a 630 and Otero was fifth with a 702.

Coach Casey Jones added the following about his team's performance, "I am very pleased with the team's performance this past week. We were down by 8 strokes after the first day and the guys put together a great team effort on the second day to win the tournament by three strokes. Ryan Yung showed that he will be fine on his transition to college by winning the event and showing his experience on his home course. Mitch Haden also stepped up and shot a single day tournament low score on Friday with a 73! I am really looking forward to the rest of the season and to a competitive region."
