EWC Welding Instructor Assists with AWS Weld-Off Competition
October 16, 2008
TORRINGTON, WY -
Eastern Wyoming College welding instructor and program director Leland Vetter was invited to help set-up and run the 2008 American Welding Society (AWS) Weld-Off Competition.
This competition is part of the Fabtech International and AWS Welding Show and Convention which was held in Las Vegas, Nevada in early October. There were six welders from around the U.S. competing in a 16 hour welding event which included a pressure vessel, plate, pipe, aluminum, and stainless steel projects. Vetter was asked to attend and help because of EWC's recent Weld-Off winner, Chance Pollo, and because of his commitment to the welding industry and to the EWC welding program.
Vetter was also selected by District 20 to attend the AWS Instructor Institute in Miami, Florida the end of July. He and 21 other instructors worked on course development and advances in the industry.
"What a great way to work with other instructors and share what EWC is doing to advance the science and application of welding," added Vetter.
