TORRINGTON, WY -

Eastern Wyoming College's Art and Social Science departments present "The Afghan Women's Project." This photographic exhibit will be on display at the Eastern Wyoming College campus in Torrington from January 12 - February 6, 2009. The exhibit will be in the Fine Arts Auditorium and is free and open to the public. The artist, Peggy Kelsey, will be speaking about this exhibit and her work at three different artist's talks: Wednesday, February 4 at 2:00 p.m., and Friday, February 5 at 9:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. All talks will be held in the EWC Fine Arts building.
Ms. Kelsey, a photographer from Austin, Texas, started the "Afghan Women's Project" after traveling to Afghanistan in 2003 to photograph women and document their stories. She put together an exhibit of Afghan women's portraits along with a profile of the women and portions of her conversations with them.
Ms. Kelsey will also share her story at the University of Wyoming on February 1, 2 and 6. For more information about her visit to Laramie, please contact Marianne Kemp, UW Women's Studies at 307.766.2733.
