EWC Bull Rider Wins Lancer Rodeo

EWC bull rider Lane Lindsay receives his championship buckle from team mate Justin Mello who was serving as a clown for the rodeo.Eastern Wyoming College recently hosted the Lancer Rodeo 2009 at the Goshen County Pavilion in Torrington, Wyoming. Sophomore bull rider, Lane Lindsay, Hot Springs, SD, took home the buckle with a score of 76.

Fellow freshman bull rider, Tyson Donaven, Sturgis, SD, finished in fourth place.

Two EWC saddle bronc riders qualified for the short go on Sunday. Garet Groshans, Paoli, CO finished the rodeo sixth in the average. Cody Peterson, Yoder, CO, qualified for the short round, but ended up with a no score.

Sophomore tie down roper Billy McCall, Johnstown, NE, finished the rodeo 6th in the average with a time of 25.4 seconds on two.

In the team roping, sophomore Jared Bilby, Bridgeport, NE, and his partner, Tyler Viles, UW, won the long go with a time of 5.9 seconds. This team continues to dominate the Central Rocky Mountain Regional standings.

Fellow teammates Justin Smith, Lusk, WY, and partner Cody Merritt, Welfleet, NE, were 5th in the long go and 5th in the average.

In the barrel racing, Josie Davison, Miles City, MT, won the long go with a time of 16.70 seconds.

Kaylee Moyer, Simla, CO, was second in the long go of the goat tying with a time of 8.2 seconds.

Sophomores Crystal Wortman, Highmore, SD; and Shannon Vaughan, Lingle, WY both qualified for the short go in the breakaway roping. Vaughan finished the rodeo in fourth place in the average with a time of 7.8 seconds on two calves.

The Lancer Rodeo team will continue the spring season with a rodeo in Fort Collins, CO, will take Easter weekend off, and then will travel to Casper for the annual Casper College rodeo.
