TORRINGTON, WY -

The Eastern Wyoming College Men's Rodeo Team won two event titles and finished second overall as a team at last weekend's Casper College Rodeo. EWC's Jared Bilby, of Bridgeport, Neb., won the team roping with partner Tyler Viles from the University of Wyoming. Bilby and Viles finished fourth in the first round with a 7.7 second run. They came back to win the final round with a 6.0 second run. The team took home the average title and also solidified their qualification to the College National Finals Rodeo with only two regional rodeos to go. "Jared is sitting in the number one spot in the region for team roping heelers," Jake Clark, EWC Rodeo Coach, said. "The top three in each event qualify for the CNFR. Jared and Tyler are roping great together with solid consistency." The EWC team of Brady Graff, of Ainsworth, Neb., and Ridge Evans, of Lemoyre, Neb., finished fifth in round one and second in the final round earning them a second place finish overall.

In the steer wrestling, EWC students Jake Kraupie, of Bridgeport, Neb., and Logan McDonald, of Hemingford, Neb., continued their consistency in the event. Kraupie won the steer wrestling title for the second weekend in a row with a 4.2 in the first round and a 5.9 second run in the final round. McDonald finished fifth overall in the steer wrestling. "Jake and Logan currently sit fourth and fifth in the regional steer wrestling standings," Coach Clark said. "With only two regional rodeos left in the season the competition is at its best and the race is on for the College National Finals Rodeo," Clark said. The EWC Lancers will be back in action April 24-26 at the Northeastern Junior College Rodeo in Sterling.
