Eastern Wyoming College Announces Commencement Speaker

TORRINGTON, WY -

Ashley MillerEastern Wyoming College is pleased to announce that Cadet First Class Ashley A. Miller has been invited to be the speaker at the 60th annual commencement ceremony. The ceremony will be held on Friday May 8, 2009 at 7:00 PM in the EWC Fine Arts Auditorium.

Miller is a 2005 graduate of Torrington High School where she was class president.  She will graduate from the United States Air Force Academy on May 27 with a B.S. in English. In February 2010, Miller will begin pilot training as she plans to fly cargo aircraft.

Commencement activities will begin with a steak fry for graduates and their families in the Student Center at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 8th. The commencement ceremony will begin at 7:00 p.m. with a processional provided by Janet Howard, Pianist. Mr. Leland Vetter, faculty member, will serve as the Director of Ceremonies. The National Anthem will be sung by EWC employee, Aaron Bahmer.

Dr. Tom Armstrong, president, will then provide a welcome and introduce the guests on stage. Mr. Steven Vetter, Student Senate President will provide a welcome on behalf of the students. Miller will then address the graduates.

Dr. Richard Holcomb, Vice President for Learning, will present the candidates for graduation. Following will be the presentation of Diplomas by Sherri Lovercheck, President of the College Board of Trustees. Eastern Wyoming College Foundation President, Patrick Korell will then present the 2009 Distinguished Alumni award to Craig Alford. The closing remarks will be spoken by Vetter.
