EWC Foundation Announces 2010 Distinguished Alumni Award

The Eastern Wyoming College Foundation has announced that the Dr. Richard Van Klaveren has been named the 2010 Distinguished Alumnus.
Dr. Richard Van Klaveren received his AA in Engineering from Eastern Wyoming College in 1968. He received his M.S. in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Wyoming and his Ph.D in Engineering Sciences from Washington State University in 1987.
His many academic and professional awards include the USDA Certificate of Merit , the Soil Conservation Service Letter of Merit, the National Society of Professional Engineers National SCS Engineer of the year, and induction into the University of Wyoming’s Engineering Hall of Fame.
His career in soils, conservation, and water management have taken him throughout the world, including stops in the Netherlands, Nicaragua, Egypt, Turkey, Israel and Armenia, where he developed the new national irrigation delivery system for this former Soviet bloc country following the breakup of the Soviet Union. He has provided expert addresses and consulted for conservation groups throughout the west and in Egypt and Italy.
Dr. Van Klaveren is currently retired in Hayden, Idaho.
During the 2010 Commencement ceremonies, Dr. Van Klaveren was presented his award by EWC Foundation President Patrick Korell. He then addressed the graduates.
