EWC: Communication Department Program Description

The Eastern Wyoming College Communication Department offers courses in the social science of communication as well as introductory work in journalism. Communication students will take Introduction to Human Communication, Interpersonal Communication, and other courses in a personally designed program, resulting in an Associate of Arts degree which is fully transferable to most universities.

Those intending to major in journalism will be able to fully participate in their craft through working on The Lancer Post, EWC’s student paper. There are also internship possibilities with the local newspaper.

A capstone project allows students to research areas of specialization or to create a portfolio of work which is ideally suited to future study and job preparation. Several EWC graduates have gone immediately from graduation to work for area newspapers.

Division grants may be available for academically inclined students. Additional information may be obtained by contacting The Learning Office at 307.532.8260 or carmie.howe@ewc.wy.edu.
