Federal
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid should be submitted at least two months before the date of enrollment to ensure that your financial aid is available to you on the day of enrollment. It is advisable to submit the application as soon as possible after January 1 prior to the academic year in which you are planning to attend. (If your or your family's financial situation has recently changed for the worse because of death, separation or divorce, or loss of job or benefits, you should contact the Financial Aid Office.)
- Pell Grant
- Federal grant based on financial need.
Value: $400-$4,050 per year.
- Academic Competiveness Grant
- For full-time students who are U.S citizens, eligible for a Federal Pell Grant, and who had successfully completed a rigorous high school program, as determined by the state or local education agency and recognized by the Secretary of Education. Second year students must also have maintained a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0
Value: $750 for the first year of undergraduate study and up to $1,300 for the second year of undergraduate study. - The program will be available for the first time for the 2006-07 school year for first year students who graduated from high school after January 1, 2006 and for second year students who graduated from high school after January 1, 2005. The Academic Competitiveness Grant award is in addition to the student's Pell Grant award.
- If you can answer YES to all of the following questions, you may potentially be eligible to receive an Academic Competitiveness Grant.
- Are you a U.S. citizen?
- Did you graduate from high school after January 1, 2005?
- Are you eligible to receive a Pell Grant?
- Will you be enrolled as a full-time first or second year student in a two-year or four-year degree program?
- Process - Around July 1, 2006 students who the US Department of Education thinks may qualify for either program will be notified and asked to go to a web-site to self-determine their eligibility. Financial Aid offices will be notified of the students for self-selecting themselves and then must certify based on a review of high school transcripts. The EWC Financial Aid Office will also identify potentially eligible students along with the United States Department of Education.

Institutional
Eastern Wyoming College offers several institutional and private donor scholarships as well as many institutional grants.
Institutional Grants and Scholarships have a deadline of March 15 for priority consideration for students enrolling in college for the first time (however, qualified early applicants may be considered for scholarships at any time). Any applications received after the deadline will be considered on a "first-come, first-serve" basis. Continuing and transfer students may apply for scholarships online or by requesting the continuing student scholarship application packet from the Financial Aid Office between April 15 and May 15.
