About the Program
The Daniels College Prep Program begins formally in the junior year of high school, working with students who dream of attending college and are from families with demonstrated financial need. We look for students who show potential for leadership and academic success, and who display strength of character, a well-rounded personality, and the potential to contribute to the community.
Unlike many college assistance programs, the Daniels Fund looks at more than grades and test scores because we understand that past academic performance does not always reflect future potential.
The Daniels Fund has partnered with each Wyoming Community College to deliver the program to eligible high school juniors. Each college has a Site Coordinator who will work with his/her respective community college, the Daniels Fund, and targeted high schools. Kathy Moriarty, Daniels Project Site Coordinator for EWC, will be working directly with interested students and their parents from high schools in the following southeastern Wyoming towns:

Overview of the Program Activities
Junior Year
Following a total of six (6) three-hour Saturday seminars during the Fall and Spring semesters, program participants will attend a week-long summer workshop, at no cost, on a college campus between their junior and senior year. Students live in campus residence halls, gain a better understanding of college life, and attend sessions which will assist them in many college processes. During this week-long summer residential program, students will:
- Prepare for and practice taking the ACT and SAT
- Understand and start the college application process
- Begin filling out college admissions applications
- Write college admissions essays
- Explore interests and abilities to help with educational and career goal setting
- Strengthen communications and interviewing skills
- Develop leadership skills
- Participate in service learning activities
- Develop a support network of peers
Senior Year
During their senior year, students are taught how to pursue a variety of financial aid and scholarship opportunities and also work closely with college "coaches" to complete the college application and financial aid processes. Students who complete the Daniels College Prep program in good standing are eligible to apply for scholarships from the Daniels Fund.
Daniels Fund Scholarships
Select scholarship recipients will receive comprehensive “unmet need” scholarships for four years to any college/university to which a Daniels Fund participant has been admitted.
