Wyoming Community Colleges | University of Wyoming | Other Institutions | To EWC
Eastern Wyoming College is an accredited post-secondary educational institution. As such, college credits from EWC readily transfer to other educational institutions. Other educational institutions do have the authority to accept transfer credits into categories that meet receiving institution requirements as either elective or required coursework. Classes with course numbers below 1000 rarely transfer from one
educational institution to another.
Transferring to other Wyoming colleges
Wyoming community colleges and the University of Wyoming have a common course numbering system for all college-level courses (courses numbered 1000 or higher). That means that an English 1010 course, for example, is the same across the state and would transfer as the same course to another Wyoming college. This makes it very easy for students to transfer college credits anywhere in the state.
Transferring to the University of Wyoming
The University of Wyoming also has a special Wyoming community college graduate transfer agreement in place. Graduates from Wyoming community colleges who earn an Associate of Arts (AA) degree or an Associate of Science (AS) degree are considered to have met all lower division general education requirements at the university. This allows students to move easily into the upper division courses when transferring to UW.
Other Institutions
Other colleges such as Chadron State College and Black Hills State University accept the EWC AA degree as fulfilling all of the receiving college's lower division general education requirements. Students planning to transfer credits from EWC to another college are encouraged to contact the other college early to determine specific courses required by the receiving college.
Transfer to EWC
Students planning to transfer credits from another college into EWC are encouraged to send transcripts to the EWC registrar early for analysis.
