Eastern Wyoming College will be closed to the public on Tuesday, August 20, 2013. The College will be holding inservice activities for all employees. EWC is also working with Goshen County Emergency Management Coordinator Shelly Kirchhefer to conduct an emergency preparedness/active shooter training drill.

This drill will involve sounds of gunfire to simulate a life-threatening situation. Evaluators will be on hand to watch the exercise. Others assisting with the drill include the Torrington Police Department, Goshen County Sheriff Department, Torrington Emergency Medical Services, Torrington Community Hospital, Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution, City of Torrington Emergency Management Coordinator, Goshen County Coroner and Torrington Learning Center.

Those who live near EWC or pass by EWC need not be concerned about the presence of law enforcement or the sound of gunfire during this drill. EWC is requesting that the public remain off campus during the drill. Drill activities will conclude by 4 pm.

Questions or concerns regarding this training exercise should be directed to Dr. Rex Cogdill, Vice President for Student Services at 307.532.8257.
