EWC vet tech program recognized as top school

A Best Vet Tech Schools - 2016-2017Community for Accredited Online Schools ( has ranked the Eastern Wyoming College Veterinary Technology program for 2016-2017 on its website as one of the best in the nation.  The EWC program ranked 13th out of 50 two-year colleges offering the same degree program.

Community for Accredited Online Schools is a comprehensive accreditation resource that provides prospective students and families with the tools needed to make well-informed decisions about their education.  The complete list can be found at

In order for universities and community colleges to qualify for this ranking they must hold public or private not-for-profit status and carry institutional accreditation. Top schools are determined by using a value-based methodology that analyzes more than a dozen qualitative and quantitative data points.

Eastern Wyoming College will be closed Monday January 16, 2017 in observance of Wyoming Equality/ Martin Luther King, Jr. day. The Fitness Center will be open normal hours. College offices will reopen on Tuesday, January 17, 2017.

EWC hosting fan appreciate night in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day/Wyoming Equality Day – January 16th

Eastern Wyoming College has announced that on Monday, January 16th, fans are invited to attend the EWC vs Central Wyoming College game for free!  EWC will take on CWC at 5 pm in the Petsch Center gymnasium.

In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day/Wyoming Equality Day there will be free admission to the game and prior to the start of the game there will be a brief recognition of both Dr. King and Wyoming Equality Day. Wyoming is called the Equality State because it was the first state to grant women the right to vote in 1869.  Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is a recognition of the Dr. King who was born on January 15, 1929 and was the chief spokesman for nonviolent activism in the Civil Rights Movement, which successfully protested racial discrimination in federal and state law in the 1960’s.

EWC taking registrations for upcoming CDL course to be held in Torrington

EWC taking registrations for upcoming CDL course to be held in TorringtonEastern Wyoming College will be offering a CDL course in Torrington, WY April 3 through April 15th. The class will be held Monday through Saturday, 7 am to 5 pm.   The registration deadline for this course is March 15.

This class is designed for those individuals interested in getting a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or those who need a CDL for their job.  Employers needing CDL drivers or who are looking to train current staff should also inquire. Upon successful completion of this course, you will have your Class A CDL & D.O.T. physical so you will be ready for employment.

EWC Workforce Development to offer CPR/Basic Life Support for medical personnel and CPR/First Aid

The Workforce Development office at Eastern Wyoming College in Torrington is offering a CPR/BLS for medical personnel on Thursday, January 26 from 5:00-9:00 pm. This course is designed for medical personnel for initial or renewal of certification. This class will be held in the Community Training Center on the main campus in Torrington and will cost $50. Pre-registration is required by calling 307.532.8323.

The CPR/First Aid class will be held on Saturday, January 28 from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. This class will also be held in Community Training Center and will cost $50. Participants will be certified in both CPR and First Aid by the American Heart Association. Teachers, coaches, early childhood providers and all are welcome. Pre-registration is also required for this class.

Eastern Wyoming College announces a late opening on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, for employee In-Service activities. College offices will open at 12:00 pm.

EWC Board of Trustees seeking interested community members

The Eastern Wyoming College Board of Trustees have begun the search process for a new president.  The Trustees have engaged the services of Gold Hill Associates to conduct the search and are seeking individuals interested in serving on the search committee.  The Board will appoint a committee that represents our college constituents with regard to gender, ethnicity and length of tenure.

Eastern Wyoming College in Torrington will close today, January 4, 2017 at 1:30 pm due to the weather.  The EWC Fitness Center will also close at 1:30 pm today.

Financial Peace University begins January 8

Eastern Wyoming College is now taking registrations for Financial Peace University.  The first class meeting will be held on January 8, 2017.
