Bio

Dean joined EWC as a full time faculty member in the Welding Department in 2016. He graduated from Alliance High School (Nebraska) in 1998 and then attended EWC for 2 ½ years where he worked on his welding degree and was a member of the Lancer Rodeo Team. Dean qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo in the steer wrestling in 2000.

He then became a pipeline welder for Kinder Morgan in 2000 and worked there until 2005 when he quit to rodeo full time. During his full time rodeo career, Dean was the World Champion Steer Wrestler in 2006 and 2010.

In 2016 Dean decided to slow down his rodeo career and spend more time with family. That is also when he began his teaching career at EWC. Together with his wife Bekah, they have three sons, Tayden, 14; Trell, 10; and Teagan, 6.

Dean is also now the assistant coach for the Lancer Rodeo team where he spends quality time working with the steer wrestling student athletes.

His teaching philosophy matches the philosophy he lives every day in that he is a family guy and approaches everything in a family oriented manner. He wants his students to be successful in the classroom and to get jobs. He also wants his rodeo students to support one another like a family.

Dean typically teaches the following courses: pipe welding, basic welding, advanced welding, pipe fitting, general welding, and general machine shop.
