EWC Douglas Campus highlights upcoming Flu Shot Clinic

Eastern Wyoming College in Douglas announces a flu shot clinic to be held on Friday October 6, from 7:00 am – 1:00 pm in the nursing lab, room 131. The cost of the flu shot is $20.

This clinic is sponsored by the Converse County Public Health and the EWC nursing students. Refreshments will be provided.

Financial Aid Frenzy offers free FAFSA help in Douglas

Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a vital step in getting help to pay for college.  By attending Financial Aid Frenzy on October 6, students and families can get free, expert help in filling out this important form online at fafsa.gov.

Financial Aid Frenzy will be held from 1-3 pm at the Eastern Wyoming College Douglas Campus located at 800 South Wind River Drive. College-bound students must complete the 2018-2019 FAFSA to qualify for federal financial aid, which includes Pell Grants, Supplemental Grants, and Work-Study, as well as student and parent loans, for the 2018-2019 academic year. In addition, some types of state aid, and many institutional scholarships and grants offered by colleges, universities and vocational/technical schools require FAFSA info to determine eligibility. FAFSA assistance is available to any student wanting to attend any college; all are welcome to attend this event.

Students 23 years of age or younger should attend the Financial Aid Frenzy with at least one parent and bring their parents’ and their own completed 2016 IRS tax returns, W-2 forms, and other 2016 income, asset and benefits information. Students 24 years of age or older may attend and bring their (and their spouses, if applicable) own completed 2016 tax returns W-2 forms, and other 2016 income, asset and benefits information.

All necessary materials, such as pens, pencils, calculators, and computers to complete the FAFSA will be provided.  This event is free and open to anyone seeking assistance with the FAFSA.

EWC Weather Closure — Douglas

Due to the weather, the Eastern Wyoming College Douglas Campus will be closing at 5 pm today.  All evening classes for Tuesday, February 7, 2017 are canceled.

EWC taking registrations for upcoming CNA course to be held at Douglas Campus

Eastern Wyoming College will be offering a Certified Nurse Assistant course at the Douglas Campus, Tuesday and Thursdays, March 1 through April 27, 5:30 to 9:25 pm.

This class is worth 4 transferable college credits. It requires a background check and TB test. Space is limited to 12 students, and students are encouraged to register early. Workforce scholarships may be available to those students who qualify.

Eastern Wyoming College presents Wyoming PBS “Storm of the Century: The Blizzard of ‘49”

Wyoming PBS will present “Storm of the Century: the Blizzard of 49” screening and discussion on Wednesday November 18th, from 7-8:30 pm in the Multi-purpose room at the EWC Douglas campus.

Wyoming PBS will be hosting a sneak preview and discussion of the upcoming local documentary, “Storm of the Century: The Blizzard of ‘49”. The event is free and open to the public and will include light snacks. Following a short clip from the documentary (approximately 15 minutes), a group of panelists will engage attendees in an open dialogue about the stories and issues raised from the film.

Panelists will include producer Tom Manning, and Jimmy and Carmen Shane from Lusk. The Shanes published a book on the blizzard of ’49 titled “Snow Flurries”. The discussion will be moderated by University of Wyoming history professor Phil Roberts.

This film tells the story of the Blizzard of ’49” – the worst series of storms in Wyoming’s history. The blizzard brought out the best in people. Wyoming citizens from all walks of life cooperated together and demonstrated exceptional ingenuity in the face of dire circumstances. There were extraordinary acts of kindness, with people generously giving their time and resources. The public worked together to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles and ultimately won in the end. More information can be found at wyomingpbs.org/blizzard.

Dedication announced for EWC Douglas Campus

Eastern Wyoming College will hold a Dedication ceremony for the new Douglas Campus on Thursday, April 23, 2015, at 2:00 pm at 800 South Wind River Drive in Douglas.

“Construction is complete and we have occupied the building.  We are looking forward to showing this facility to the community,” shared EWC President Dr. Richard Patterson.

This event is open to the public.  There will be a ribbon cutting at 2:15 and the ceremony speakers will begin at 2:30.  Guests are invited to tour the facility during this event.
