EWC Cosmetology and Barbering closed temporarily to the public

Due to COVID exposure and quarantine, the EWC Cosmetology and Barbering department will be canceling all appointments scheduled for the remainder of this week and all of next week, through September 10th. Appointments will resume September 13th Current appointments scheduled during that time will be rescheduled by the EWC Cosmetology and Barbering department.

PSA – EWC games canceled

The following Eastern Wyoming College volleyball games have been canceled due to EWC players with Covid exposure:

Friday, September 3, 12 pm vs Hutchinson Community College
Friday, September 3, 4 pm vs Dodge City Community College
Saturday, September 4, 8 am vs Iowa Western Community College
Saturday, September 4, 2 pm vs Garden City Community College

All games were scheduled to be played at McCook Community College. These games will not be rescheduled. Following EWC protocols, symptomatic players have been tested and isolated and through contact tracing other players have been quarantined pending test results.

The following Eastern Wyoming College volleyball games have been canceled due to EWC players with potential Covid exposure:

Friday, August 27th, 5 pm vs NJC and Saturday, August 28th, 10 am vs Otero

Both games were scheduled to be played at LCCC. These games will not be rescheduled. Following EWC protocols, symptomatic players have been tested and isolated and through contact tracing other players have been quarantined pending test result.

EWC notified of second positive student case

Eastern Wyoming College officials have received notification of a second positive COVID-19 case of an on-campus student. This case is related to the positive case announced earlier today. Officials are working directly with this student to determine contact tracing and will directly contact any individuals who are determined to be at risk due to close contact. Close contact refers to an individual who was within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes.

It is imperative that individuals remain diligent and carefully follow all public health orders and safety measures. As a reminder, if you have symptoms of illness, or develop COVID-19 symptoms while on campus, isolate yourself immediately and contact a health care professional. Please remember to continue to practice good hygiene, social distancing, and wear a face-covering or mask at all times. All students, employees, and visitors are required to wear masks or face coverings in all EWC facilities. EWC to hold in-person classes this fall

Eastern Wyoming College will be resuming traditional course offerings beginning the Fall 2021 semester and will be fully open for the Fall 2021 semester for both the Torrington and Douglas campuses.

“We look forward to having our students and community return to campus and return to in-person learning and activities,” said Mr. Roger Humphrey, Vice President for Academics /Interim Vice President for Student Services.

With trends of decreasing cases of COVID-19 and an increasing availability of vaccines, EWC is preparing to be fully open for the start of Fall 2021 Semester.  Humphrey continued, “We have been working diligently over the last few months to determine how we can open our campuses to all students and the community while providing a safe learning environment. We are confident that we will be ready to bring all students back to the EWC.” College officials will continue to meet on a regular basis to monitor conditions and will make adjustments as necessary.

In addition to increasing on-campus classes, EWC will also increase the number of students living on campus for Fall of 2021. EWC will be able to provide a residential living experience for up to 200 students. Students interested in living on campus can submit their housing application at https://ewc.wy.edu/admissions/application-for-housing/.

Fall 2021 registration is now open for returning and new students. Returning students should contact their advisor directly to schedule courses for Fall 2021 semester and new students should contact the EWC Admissions Office in Torrington at 307.532.8230 or the Douglas Campus at 307.624.7000.

Due to this positive student case and the appropriate quarantine measures of students within close contact, the EWC Lancer volleyball games scheduled for Friday, February 26th and Saturday, February 27th will be canceled.

Due to COVID concerns with the NPCC women’s basketball team, the EWC vs NPCC women’s game scheduled for later today will not be played. The EWC vs NPCC men’s game will not be impacted by this and will take place as scheduled.
