Eastern Wyoming College student athletes receive awards

TORRINGTON, WY –
NJCAA headquarters in Colorado Springs, CO has released the names of the 2010-2011 NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Awards and All Academic Teams. Over 1,470 student-athletes met the requirements for individual academic honors while over 370 teams qualified for academic team accolades.
The requirements for these NJCAA achievement awards are as follows: Pinnacle Award for Academic excellence for 4.00 GPA on a 4.00 scale. Superior Academic Achievement for 3.80 to 3.99 on a 4.00 scale. Exemplary Academic Achievement for 3.60 to 3.79 on a 4.00 scale.
Eastern Wyoming College student-athletes were Kayla Durham, volleyball, from Ft. Collins, CO, received the Pinnacle Award for Academic Excellence. Andrew Kennedy, golf, from Casper, WY, received the Exemplary Academic Achievement award, Sammie Perkins, volleyball, from Big Horn, WY, received the Superior Academic Achievement award and Sarah Smith, basketball, from Driggs, ID, received the Exemplary Academic Achievement award. Receiving recognition for the All-Academic team list was the Lady Lancers volleyball team.
The 2010-2011 season marks the 28th year the NJCAA has recognized the success of its student-athletes in the classroom. With minimal changes, the NJCAA academic awards program has been in place since 1983.
