Eastern Wyoming College to offer an Evening Course in Ag Commodities

The Agriculture Department at EWC is offering an evening class in Agricultural Commodities in Marketing starting Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016. The class will be held in the Mechanical Arts building on the Torrington Campus each Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 7:55 pm.
The course deals with the use of the commodities futures markets for risk management in the marketing of livestock and grain. The cash market will also be studied, including transformation, forward contracting types of markets, and price trends. Members of the class will use software that will help them better understand agricultural markets.
The class will be taught by Shay Shimic, who has extensive experience in commodities marketing and the futures market. This will be an excellent opportunity for local producers and ag-related professionals to learn or brush up on the ins and outs of commodities marketing.
