Eastern Wyoming College has announced that Committee for Veterinary Technology Education and Activities (CVTEA) has granted full accreditation to the Veterinary Technology program.
The program was placed on probationary accreditation in April 2014 as it did not meet accreditation standards due to the vacant program director position. Accreditation standards require the position to be filled within 60 days of vacancy. Dr. Susan Walker was appointed to the vacant position in September 2014.
A CVTEA site team visit and inspection was conducted in February 2015. The team reviewed reports prepared by the College which showed that the administrative issues had been appropriately addressed and resolved.
The evaluation team commended EWC’s Veterinary Technology program for “exemplary performance of graduates on the VTNE” (Veterinary Technician National Examination). The VTNE results for EWC show a three-year average pass rate of 95% for program graduates. The committee also recognized the “dedicated, cohesive and student-centered faculty” as a strength of the program.
“We are very pleased with the outcome of the site visit. The Vet Tech program and staff worked very hard to prepare for this visit and the results reflect that,” shared Dr. Rick Patterson, President. “The department is running well and we are looking forward to it continuing as one of our premier programs.”
The next regular program accreditation review is scheduled for 2017.
