EWC Brings Home Team Roping Win at CSC Rodeo

TORRINGTON, WY –
Freshman Riley Pruitt, Gering, NE, won the tie-down roping while competing for Eastern Wyoming College at the annual Central Wyoming College held in Riverton this past weekend. Pruitt had a total time of 17.8 seconds in two rounds.

The 2010-2011 college rodeo season was kicked off for the Central Rocky Mountain Region this past weekend at the Chadron State College Rodeo.
Eastern Wyoming College sophomore Troy Wilcox, Red Owl, SD, kicked off the weekend with a second place finish in the men’s all-around standings. Winning the team roping and placing in the calf roping earned him that spot.
“I was really pleased with the teams start this fall,” shared Coach Jake Clark. “We had a disappointing injury with returning CNFR qualifier Wyatt Clark. We will know more about the extent of his injury next week.”
In the team roping, Wilcox and freshman partner Tee Hale, White Owl, SD, won the event with a time of 7.7 seconds in the first round, 7.6 in the short round for a total of 15.3 seconds on two steers. Fellow team member and freshman Trae Seebaum, Douglas, WY, finished in third place overall with partner Brayden Huxtable from Casper College.
Wilcox had a time of 12.2 seconds in the first round of the tie-down roping and a 12.4 second time in the short round which gave him a total time of 24.6 seconds for a third place finish overall.
EWC freshman Shelby Winchell, Scottsbluff, NE, had times of 7.8 and 7.7 for a total of 15.5 seconds to win third place in the goat tying.
The Lancer rodeo team will travel to Riverton to compete at the Central Wyoming College rodeo this weekend.
