EWC dominates LCCC rodeo

The Eastern Wyoming College rodeo team finished the fall season with a top showing at the annual Shawn Dubie Memorial Rodeo held over the weekend in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

The Lancer team ropers finished in four of the top five spots. Winning the team roping were the sophomore team of Wyatt Mann, Box Elder, SD and Carson Musick, Pierre, SD. In second place was the team of Dustin Dailey, sophomore, Long Pine, NE and sophomore Casey Packer, Sturgis, SD. Cody Colman, sophomore, O’Neill, NE and Shane Friede, sophomore, Loveland, CO finished the weekend in 3rd place. Trey Yates, sophomore, Pueblo, CO and partner Brit Ellerman, University of Wyoming won the long round of the team roping and finished the weekend in fifth place in the average.

Freshman tie down roper Logan Milligan, Torrington, won the long round and placed seventh in the average. Teammates Mann and Colman finished in fourth and sixth place in the average respectively.

In the steer wrestling sophomore Austin Willey, Bayard, NE was third in the long round and fourth in the average. AJ Freeman, sophomore, Valentine, NE and Danny Manning, freshman, Hemingford, NE each also qualified for the top ten short round.

Sophomore breakaway roper Becca Kartak, Colome, SD, qualified for the top ten short round with a time of 3.5 seconds.

Lindsey Goulet, sophomore, Mohall, ND, was third in the first round of the barrel racing. Teammate Bailey Schaack, sophomore, Hyannis, NE also qualified for the top ten short round.

In the goat tying, sophomore Shai Schaefer, Torrington, was fifth in the average for the weekend. Jordan Hagedorn, sophomore, West Point, NE, qualified for the short round.

• Barrel Racing – Lindsey Goulet, 8th
“The Lancers dominated the team roping this weekend,” shared Coach Jake Clark. “We had some students finish strong at the last rodeo of the fall season. The women’s team is starting to come on. We have several students in the top of the standings going into the spring half of the season.”
