Autumn Hoffman, Eastern Wyoming College GEAR UP student was selected by the American Legion Auxiliary to represent the community at the 75th session of Wyoming Girls State that was held in June.
The program emphasizes the importance of government in modern life and educates young women in the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of American citizenship. It awakens a sincere conviction that a well-informed, intelligent, participating citizenry is vital to protect and preserve our America institutions and our democracy.
These goals are achieved by actual participation in a simulation of the political and governmental process.
“Thanks for the GEAR UP Program and staff at my school for all their help and support and always saying You Can Do It,” said Autumn Hoffman.
“I just want to say congratulations to one of our EWC GEAR UP (GU) students Autumn Hoffman. I’m so proud of her for setting her sights high, and making every effort to achieve her education goals,” said GEAR UP Director Judy Brown. “She worked hard and proved to herself and everyone what she is capable of. Autumn has been an outstanding GU student. Her growth personally and academically shows her relentless patience and persistence in everything she does,” continued Ms. Brown.
