The Eastern Wyoming College GEAR UP Club has implemented a mentoring program where EWC GEAR UP sophomore students on campus will mentor incoming freshmen students.  They are guided to be Someone Who Matters to Someone Who Matters.

“Students who receive mentoring from their peers on a regular basis have a much greater chance of successfully completing their postsecondary educational experience,” shared EWC GEAR UP Director Judy Brown.

EWC GEAR UP students meet on a regular basis in either groups or individually.  They sponsor events on campus, are involved in community service projects and regularly offer tutoring sessions.  With the aid of EWC GEAR UP Freshmen Programmer, Candice Rendon, the mentors have developed a mentoring manual for future students and they are actively planning next semester’s events.

EWC GEAR UP students have created a video of their mentoring program and will share it on the Torrington Campus beginning December 2nd.  For more information about this mentoring program please contact Ms. Brown at 307.532.8269.
