EWC highlights upcoming Community Education classes
Tuesday, January 12th, 2016 • 3:08 pm
The Community Education office at Eastern Wyoming College in Torrington is offering the following classes.
Basic Wood Working
Scott Soderstrom, THS wood/Welding Tech Instructor enjoyed the workshop he offered in 2015 so much that he is offering it again in 2016. He has a number of project plans from which to choose, but definitely encourages participants to bring their own ideas. Each week Scott will be available to provide participants with individualized technical assistance and advice.
Whether you are a new or seasoned woodworker, this is the perfect class for you because you get to try out a variety of woodworking tools and equipment. The first class will cover safety, equipment demos, and project selection. Participants will be responsible for purchasing wood and other supplies for their projects. This class will be held on Tuesdays, January 19 to March 8 from 6-9:00 pm. The cost is $150.
Basic Self-Defense for Women
WOMEN, LADIES, GIRLS: take responsibility for preparing yourself in the event of a crime—the more prepared you are, the less likely you will need to defend yourself. This class is designed to increase your personal level of awareness, thus reducing the chance you will find yourself in a compromising situation, whether it be at home, in a parking lot, or out jogging. Basic self-defense techniques will be demonstrated with opportunity for practice. Even if you’ve taken this class before, it is always to your benefit to refresh or practice your self-defense skills. Class instructor Officer Reed has updated the class curriculum to include the use of pressure points as a self-defense technique.
This class will be held on Thursday January 21 OR February 25 from 6:30-8:30 pm and the cost is $20 per session.
